Sri Lanka’s Export Earnings Exceed US$ 14.4 Bn in First Ten Months of 2025
Sri Lanka’s export sector has maintained strong momentum in 2025, recording 6% growth from January to October. According to Sri Lanka Customs and sector estimates, total exports reached US$ 14.43 billion, surpassing last year’s performance and marking the first time the country has crossed the US$ 14 billion mark within ten months.

A notable milestone was the coconut-based products sector, which exceeded US$ 1 billion in exports for the first time.

EDB Chairman and CEO Mangala Wijesinghe described the achievement as the highest-ever export figure for the January–October period, attributing the growth to recovering Western markets and steady domestic production capacity. He also noted that 80% of the annual export target of US$ 18 billion has already been met.

In October 2025 alone, total merchandise and services exports amounted to US$ 1.47 billion, a 2.2% increase from September and a slight 0.16% rise year-on-year.

Services exports continue to play a growing role, earning an estimated US$ 316.14 million in October. For the first ten months, services exports rose 4.01% to US$ 3.06 billion, driven by ICT/BPM, Construction, Financial Services, and Transport & Logistics.

The robust performance underscores the resilience of Sri Lanka’s export sector and the expanding contribution of the country’s knowledge-based economy.
