A container crane collapses onto an MSC feeder vessel at Yantian port
On 16 September, the 1,730 TEU MSC Riona, a feeder vessel, was involved in an accident at Yantian Port, southern China, where a portion of a ship-to-shore crane collapsed onto the ship.
Local reports indicate that several containers from the vessel were knocked into the sea as a result of the incident.
Built in 1998, the MSC Riona was operating on an intra-Asia service at the time.
The accident occurred around 8:40 am, leading to the suspension of operations at berth two of Shenzhen port. No injuries have been reported as of the latest updates.
