CMA CGM announces the application of peak season surcharges across all regions
French shipping giant CMA CGM has announced the introduction of new peak season surcharges globally, set to be implemented in the coming weeks.
Firstly, a peak season surcharge (PSS) of US$250 per reefer TEU and US$500 per reefer FEU will be applied to shipments from all North European ports, including those in Northern France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Scandinavia, Poland, the Baltic region, and Northern Spain (Bilbao and Gijon), heading to the US East Coast, US Gulf Coast, Canada East Coast, Mexico East Coast, and all inland destinations reachable via these ports.
Additionally, CMA CGM will impose a PSS on shipments originating from the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East Gulf, Red Sea, and Egypt, destined for the US East Coast and US Gulf Coast. This surcharge, amounting to US$1,000 per unit, will be effective from 15 September.
Moreover, the French carrier will introduce another peak season surcharge of US$1,000 per unit on shipments from the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East Gulf, Red Sea, and Egypt to the US East Coast and US Gulf Coast, which will come into effect on 1 October.
