Etihad Cargo Expands Temperature-Controlled Logistics with PharmaLife and FreshForward
Etihad Cargo has significantly enhanced its capabilities in temperature-controlled logistics through its PharmaLife and FreshForward solutions, achieving substantial growth in 2023. The PharmaLife product, focused on life sciences and healthcare shipments, saw a 37% year-on-year increase in pharmaceutical tonnage. This growth was supported by the expansion of its infrastructure, including a dedicated pharma hub that doubled storage and handling capacity, as well as its CEIV Pharma certification, which ensures adherence to global industry standards.
FreshForward, dedicated to perishables such as fresh produce, seafood, and flowers, also saw a 10% increase in volumes, with strong contributions from markets like India, Spain, and South Africa. Etihad Cargo's adoption of advanced technologies, such as IoT sensors for real-time monitoring and blockchain for secure data handling, has improved reliability and customer transparency across its cool chain operations.
Additionally, initiatives like the Pharma Champions program and collaborations with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health are positioning Etihad Cargo as a key player in global pharmaceutical and perishables logistics, with a focus on sustainability and market expansion.
