MSC Launches iReefer: Advanced Real-Time Monitoring for Reefer Cargo
Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the world’s largest liner, has introduced iReefer, a cutting-edge container monitoring system designed for temperature-controlled shipments. This innovative solution enables customers to track and monitor their reefer cargo in real time, from anywhere in the world.
MSC offers three tiers of iReefer services:
1. iReefer Essential – Available free of charge, this basic package provides an overview of current and historical reefer shipments, a detailed container journey log, and performance graphs.
2. iReefer Pro – Expanding on the Essential package, this premium option includes unlimited data downloads and access to additional insights such as real-time GPS container tracking.
3. iReefer Ultimate – Designed for high-volume shippers, this top-tier package integrates directly with customers’ systems via an API for seamless data access and automation.
The iReefer Pro and iReefer Ultimate packages will be available starting next month.
As part of this global initiative, MSC has equipped over 210,000 reefer containers and more than 500 vessels with iReefer technology, reinforcing its commitment to digital innovation and cargo visibility. With over 1 million reefer containers transported annually, MSC aims to extend this technology across its entire fleet in the coming years, aligning with industry-wide advancements in smart container connectivity.
