SeaLead Shipping and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority Introduce Direct Liner Service
Global shipping company SeaLead Shipping has launched a new weekly direct liner service in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA), enhancing maritime connectivity between the Far East, India, and East Africa through its Far East India Djibouti (FID) service.
According to SeaLead, this new service will provide direct connections between China, India, and Djibouti, significantly reducing transit times and improving trade efficiency along major global trade routes, with Colombo serving as a key hub port.
Commencing operations on September 5, the FID service offers weekly connections to vital ports in China, India, and Djibouti, as stated by SLPA.
The westbound route begins in Shanghai and includes important stops at Ningbo, Nansha, Port Klang, Colombo, Nhava Sheva, and Mundra before reaching Djibouti. The return eastbound journey facilitates direct trade from Djibouti back to Shanghai, streamlining operations across these critical regions.
SLPA Managing Director Prabath Malavige emphasized that this partnership with SeaLead supports their ongoing efforts to reinforce Colombo’s position as a premier maritime hub in the region. “The FID service will not only improve trade connectivity but also enhance the strategic importance of the Port of Colombo in facilitating efficient global shipping operations,” he noted.
