The National Logistics Awards 2024 (NLA) took place on October 23 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo, marking a vibrant celebration of excellence in the logistics sector. Organized by the Sri Lanka Logistics and Freight Forwarders’ Association (SLFFA), the event recognized exceptional achievements within the industry, uniting leaders and stakeholders for a memorable evening.
Over 40 awards were presented across ten key categories, including freight forwarding, ocean carriers, airlines, warehousing, and project logistics, celebrating the creativity and dedication of individuals who have transformed supply chain management in Sri Lanka. In addition, seven prestigious "Legends of Logistics" awards were bestowed upon those who have made significant contributions to the field.
Supported by 28 key organizations, including Sri Lanka Customs and the Ministry of Ports and Shipping, the awards ceremony underscored the importance of collaboration and recognition in the logistics sector. The event was powered by the generous support of CL Synergy Ltd. as the main sponsor, with Aitken Spence Maritime, Freight and Integrated Logistics, and Hayleys Advantis serving as Gold sponsors. Bronze sponsorship came from Expolanka Freight Ltd., Scanwell Logistics Colombo Ltd., and Transwing Logistics Ltd., all of whom played vital roles in making the event a success.
Under the guidance of Professor Lalith Edirisinghe from the CINEC Faculty of Management and Social Sciences, a distinguished panel of judges meticulously evaluated the nominations using both quantitative and qualitative criteria to ensure that the winners exemplified excellence in their respective fields.
Prominent SLFFA office bearers shared their thoughts on the significance of the event. SLFFA Chairman Channa Gunawardena remarked, “This event not only celebrated excellence in the logistics sector but also showcased our collective resilience and commitment to driving innovation in Sri Lanka’s logistics industry.” Vice Chairman Andre Fernando added, “The National Logistics Awards 2024 was a testament to the remarkable achievements and dedication of our industry, inspiring us all to reach new heights.” Treasurer Shavindra Dias emphasized, “The event highlighted the incredible talent within our industry and reinforced the vital role logistics plays in Sri Lanka’s economy.”
The NLA 2024 also aimed to inspire the youth by highlighting the diverse opportunities within the logistics sector. The SLFFA believes that after overcoming numerous challenges, including the pandemic and economic hardships, this recognition is well-deserved for an industry that has demonstrated remarkable tenacity. As the evening concluded, participants felt a renewed sense of inspiration and unity.
